Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) occurs when a disc located between the vertebras protrude or shift causing pressure to the spinal cord.
Symptoms can be anywhere from mild to severe and may include:
- pain in the neck or back area
- paralysis
- loss of bladder and bowel control
- loss of feeling sensations
These symptoms may last from a few days to several weeks; some cases are not curable at all. In order to diagnose this disease x-rays may be necessary.
Contact us if you notice any of the above symptoms in your pet. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for full recovery.
